The history
It all started back in the 80s with deliveries to the train industry.
Pipe bending
It all started with the takeover/acquisition of Bombardier’s pipe bending centre, which has meant that we have supplied all pipes for the Danish IC3 train. This concerns electricity, hydraulics, air, and other pipes installed in the IC3.
This pipe bending centre has developed to also supplying grab rails/bicycle racks – S-trains/OTU and IR4.
Johs. Pedersen a/s continues to manufacture mechanical components and interior parts in standard and stainless steel as well as aluminium.
Seat production
In the early 90s, we bought the seat production from Bombardier in Randers, and that was the start of the production of seats for IC3, IR4 and IC2. This production is the reason why today we will start the renovation of the IC3 train for the 4th time in August 2023.
Seat renovation/facelift has been carried out in Denmark and Sweden, and with the acquisition by Artex AB in Sweden, we expect this to develop in even more countries.
JP TRAIN a/s has been an important department of the Johs. Pedersen Group, where focus was on the production of interior components such as chairs, sofas and side and roof panel upholstery. In addition, a range of smart solutions for bicycle racks in the trains has been developed: with and without the integration of folding seats.
In JP TRAIN, extensive renovation work is also carried out. We receive and renovate interior parts of the trains, which for one reason or another need a renovation or a so-called “mid-life” upgrade.
New Swedish owner
As per May 1st, 2023, a new company has been established within the large Swedish Artex group. The company is called Johs. Pedersen TRAIN a/s, and it is a subsidiary company 100% owned by Artex AB in 595 41 Mjölby, Sweden.
Johs. Pedersen TRAIN continues as an independent Danish company, but under Swedish ownership, and still possesses the same know-how and competences with the same staff as when the company was owned by Johs. Pedersen a/s.
Service, address, etc. remain unchanged, and the business will be continuously expanded at the address in Viborg, Denmark.
Johs. Pedersen TRAIN a/s will also focus on being a total supplier within the renovation business on the interior side, where we with our own employees empty a train set of furniture and other interiors, bring it to our own modern upholstery factory, separate, clean, and renovate the furniture and subsequently install it in the train set. All within very tight schedules according to the agreement with the customer.
One of our great strengths is that we combine our know-how within metal production in Johs. Pedersen a/s with the great know-how on interior parts within the Artex group.
